Highest Dividend Yield: who pays the most right now
Nothing about growth or size enters this ranking, only how much a stock pays relative to its price. It sorts purely by dividend yield, from highest to lowest.
The math looks simple, annual dividend divided by share price, but the number can climb for two very different reasons. A company raising its payout pushes yield up. So does a falling share price while the dividend stays flat, and that version usually means the market has started doubting whether the payout holds. A yield backed by real earnings and free cash flow tells a different story than one propped up by a falling price.
Two lists are worth opening next to this one. Most Free Cash Flow Stocks shows whether the cash behind a payout is actually there, and Safest Stocks to Buy shows whether the share price has been stable enough for the yield to mean what it looks like. Best Utilities Stocks and Best Real Estate Stocks are where most high payers live.
This suits income-focused investors building a portfolio around cash payouts rather than growth. A high number on this list is a starting point, not a verdict, worth checking against the company's profit margin and free cash flow before assuming the dividend is safe. The stock's own page has the payout history.
